About the author
My name is Louise Bazalgette and I’m a parent of two who lives in south London.
When I was pregnant with my daughter in 2015, I initially found it to be a very isolating experience as my partner and I had decided not to tell anyone about the pregnancy until after the 12 week scan. I was excited about having a baby but also really daunted about how much my life was going to change. And I found it so hard not being able to talk to my friends about how I was feeling!
I found myself trying to read every book about pregnancy that I could find, but most books were focused on giving health advice and there was very little about how the women themselves were feeling about this transformational life stage. The only books I could find that shared pregnant women’s thoughts, feelings and experiences were celebrity pregnancy books, which I found a little hard to relate to!
Ever since then I’ve been thinking about writing this book - the book I would have wanted to read. Each stage of pregnancy is very unique and specific so I think it would be great to have a book that shares women’s experiences of pregnancy in chronological order, starting from early pregnancy and finishing just before the baby’s birth. Most importantly, it should include perspectives and experiences from a really diverse range of women, for different readers from all kinds of backgrounds to relate to.
I am really excited to be finally writing this book! If you would like to be involved, please get in touch with me via the contact form.
